3 Ways to Use Your Dockatot

June 2, 2018

DockATot was nice enough to send Fox his very own Grand to give a whirl and when I posted a sneak peek to social media, I was overwhelmed with messages and comments about how much readers already love this brand.

I can honestly say that I’ve never received that heavy of a response before — people are hooked!

If you’re not familiar with the DockATot brand, here are a few tidbits to get you started:

  • Multi-functional lounger, co-sleeper and playtime lounger tested for breathability
  • Comes in two sizes: Deluxe (0-8 Months) and Grand (9-36 months)
  • Fox turned three in February and he still has plenty of room to lay down in the Grand!
  • The sleek design hails from Sweden and comes to fruition after being handmade in Europe
  • OEKO-TEX certified with all natural, 100% cotton

Apparently I was really tired after having a baby because I slept on having one of these when Fox was younger.

I’m sad we missed out on having one for so long!

There are three main ways we use our DockATot.

General Play

Our house is older which means hardwood floors throughout. Although they’re beautiful, we rely heavily on area rugs and cushions to keep our bodies happy when we’re playing on the floor with Fox. He loves to sit in his Dockatot when he’s imagining with his playsets or building his latest creation. He actually asks for it now if it’s not in whatever room we’ve stationed ourselves in and I’m thinking of getting another for upstairs!

Nap Time

Fox used to fall asleep on a flimsy children’s convertible couch and I worried about his bone health. I wanted a mobile space for him to take his naps on that was comfortable and cute enough to leave laying around when company comes over unexpectedly. He’s napped in our living room, in the office as I do my work, and even in the sunroom with the breeze crossing over him. The cover comes off for easy laundering too!

Transition to Toddler Bed

Anyone else have a child who is scared of their bedroom? Fox had the worst time transitioning to his own space. He’d panic about being alone and no amount of crying it out would make the episode stop. We bought an enormous Paw Patrol nightlight that I’m certain my neighbors could see clear through the window, but even that didn’t help. Long story short, we took a tip from Dockatot to transfer the cot to on top of his toddler bed, since he’s already comfortable napping there. So far we’ve had some success! We still have a ways to go, but we’ve seen great improvement.

Have you seen their collaboration with Oh Joy!?

I’d like one of each, please.
