Darling Date Night Makeup

Getting ready for a date night these days is an all out extravaganza. With a little guy toddling around the house I relish in the primping and fluffing before getting out of the house almost as much as I love being out on the town. With my parents in town we had the opportunity to sneak out for a hot minute and I decided to get glam!

When I heard about Essence cosmetics now being sold at select Target stores (a.k.a. the happiest place on earth) I knew I had to swoop in and grab a handful of products. I had picked up their gel eyeliner once on vacation after I forgot mine and didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg on a new one since I had mine at home. The gel liner was only $3.99 and I wound up replacing it with my old liner back home because I loved it so much 😉

I’m not even going to apologize for showing you these products because everything in this picture below costs under $40. TOTAL. I’ll just let that sink in for awhile.

Are you collected yet? Cool. Onto the application process!

My absolute favorite technique to work into date night looks is a cut crease. I have such dark brown eyes that they’re nearly black, so I generally stick with darker colors like browns, plums, and deep greens to make sure my eyes don’t get lost.

I applied my foundation, concealer, and bronzer as I would any other day, going a bit more heavy handed on bronzer than I normally would for added drama. Then I went in on the eyes.

First I went in with the Eyebrow Designer Pencil in 01 to fill my brows. Then I used my How to Make Nude Eyes palette for the shadow. Eye Light Beige all over, An Eye on Apricot in the inner corner of the crease, All about Nude in the middle of the crease, and Nude Night Out at the end of the crease – then blend like a wild woman. Also worth mentioning – the palette I used comes with little cards that give you instructions on how to create certain looks using the kit in case you need a little guidance!

If there is one product that you add to your shopping list let it be the 2 In 1 Khôl Liner. This liner made a cat eye so unbelievably easy. It has an extra long tip (see #4 below) so you can angle, press, and drag without having to actually trace out a line beforehand.

I finished off my eyes with a coat of Get Big! Lashes Volume Curl Mascara paired with falsies, lined my lips with Longlasting Lip Liner in 02, and slapped on a coat of Longlasting Lipstick in Coral Calling. The lipstick goes on like lip balm which is super easy to reapply after a sipping a drink or eating dinner.

I topped my look off with The Gel Nail Polish in Fame Fatale ($1.99). This color gives me life!

If you don’t already follow me on Instagram (what’s up with that?!), here’s a mini-video of the creation of this look:

Once I was all set with my makeup I threw on some cute duds and Tyler and I were off to Balboa Park for dinner and a stroll through the museum.

One of my favorite things about the Essence brand is that they want their customers to be confident in their own skin.

In case you’re wondering, this is where you’ll find Essence products in select Target locations!
