Getting Ready for Date Night

July 21, 2016

This post was sponsored by Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs as part of an Activation for Influence Central. I received complimentary products to facilitate my review.

Part of the logic behind making our move from suburban San Diego to the middle of Hollywood was to rejuvenate the fun side in both me and my husband. Fox has only been out of our sight for a combined total of maybe 24 hours of his entire life, and although we have a blast as a trio we really want to put more effort specifically into our marriage now that he’s getting older. Being walking distance to all of the famed theaters in foodie heaven, we’ve vowed to get out more and actually “date.”

For our first date night in over a year I decided to go all out and get myself gussied up. I’d actually wear a new dress, put on the falsies, and gloss my lips.

A few weeks ago I posted a picture of myself in this teal dress with the phrase “sometimes I forget I live in California” while referencing my milky white legs. Even though I got a lot of compliments on this outfit, I still felt really self-conscious in it.

I have a little beauty trick I’ve used for years that helps me look toned and feel more confident: Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs Leg Make Up. I picked this up at the drugstore on the way to my first ever Vegas vacation and it totally transformed my legs. When I worked in publishing you’d often see me close myself in my office before a networking event to even out my skin tone and avoid wearing pantyhose. I love that it’s considered leg makeup rather than self-tanner.

I tried a new shade this time (Fairest Glow) because, let’s face it, it’s been awhile since my legs have seen the light of day and I no longer matched my usual Tan Glow shade. While I was at it, I contacted a professional to help me feel like a million bucks. I located Alison through an app called Priv which helps connect freelance beauty professionals to people who need services like hair, makeup, nails, massages, etc. in the comfort of their own homes. Right now it’s available in select cities but expanding rapidly.

It was surprising to learn that Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs Leg Make Up is supposed to be applied from hand (or brush) to leg, I had been doing it wrong before by spraying directly to my leg first.

I am going on a warm weather trip soon and I’ve been dreading breaking out the heat appropriate clothes, but once the product was on my legs I wanted to go out and buy some rompers! You can definitely tell the difference from the photos sans Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs Leg Make Up and then with, and there’s zero orange tint which is super important to me.

Alison also did my makeup for me. I’m pretty basic when it comes to colors and like a bronzy, brown scheme which she performed beautifully. Besides that, she finally helped me figure out how to apply false lashes (THANK GOODNESS!) and connected me with a nearly exact dupe of a lipstick I love that was discontinued a few years ago.

If you’re located in the Los Angeles, Orange County, NYC, London, Hamptons, or Austin area, you can book a Priv service of your own and, as an added bonus, you’ll receive a complimentarySally Hansen Airbrush Legs Leg Make Up application with any service through Aug. 31st. You’ll also get to keep the bottle!

What is your date night routine? Is there anything special you do before heading out of the house?
