Every once in awhile I have to slow down and remind myself to stop and smell the roses. I’m a busybody that overpacks my schedule, spends every waking moment with a toddler who doesn’t nap and sleeps 6 hours a night, and sets overly ambitious personal goals with hard deadlines. It can be totally exhausting.
There’s a song that I play when I want to decompress; it’s called Vienna by Billy Joel.
“Where’s the fire, what’s the hurry about?
You’d better cool it off before you burn it out.
You’ve got so much to do and only so many hours in a day”
When I moved to Hollywood three weeks ago, I ran out in the heatwave to grab some ice cream from 7-Eleven in the midst of moving and stumbled upon Billy Joel’s star on the Walk of Fame. It seemed like somewhere, someone was telling me to cool my jets and start granting myself some quiet moments to take it all in.
I grabbed some coffee ice cream, cruised Hollywood Blvd. on foot, and decided to make it a tradition. So now when I’m overwhelmed or feeling a bit underwater, I grab the house keys and take a stroll for a sweet treat while learning my new neighborhood deeper than what I’ve seen on the Silver Screen.
Back home, sitting in silence on my bed and having a “Moment for Me” with a pint of Häagen-Dazs® is therapeutic to my soul, and the walk that came before helped me burn some calories before allowing myself to indulge! While I was enjoying my ice cream on this particular occasion, I entered for a chance to win a variety of prizes (think $10,000 or a custom prize box filled with tons of incredible items!).
To enter, buy any Häagen-Dazs product at 7-Eleven and text “aah” to 35350 to receive receipt submission instructions. Now you’re entered to win 1,000s of prizes! The custom box I mentioned above is similar to a subscription box (valued at $500, 5 boxes total), filled with an ice cream scooper, bamboo ice cream bowls, links to VR experiences, $75 Amazon gift card, $25 7-Eleven gift card, and free Häagen-Dazs ice cream!
A little bit of self-reflection and fresh air can make anyone feel brand new, and taking a step back to look at all the good in my life helps me to remember that I’m going down a really fruitful path right now. Just like the song says…
“Though you can see when you’re wrong, you know you can’t always see when you’re right. You’re right.”
What is your “Moment for Me”?
