It’s Spring! Playing in the Rain at the Park + Snack

April 25, 2018

This post is sponsored by Happy Tot but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

It may have snowed last week here in Buffalo, but these days it’s nice and warm outside. We’re experiencing the kind of weather where you only really need a coat to shield you from the April showers.

Most people might disagree with me, but I love when rain comes through.

Thunder and lightning didn’t really exist in Southern California and rain was infrequent, so it’s nice to have seasons back. The smell of the rain on the pavement signaled the change of the seasons and gave hope that the snow would soon melt and I could break out my shorts.

This year, the change in temperature brings more opportunities than normal. We’re finally getting to show Fox some of my favorite outdoor childhood haunts like the the baseball diamond where I watched my first meteor shower from a sleeping bag and the bike path that navigates through suburbs, forests, and farms all at once.

Today we had planned to take him to the playground I used to hang out on but the rain began to fall. We thought about pulling the plug but, knowing Fox, opted to keep the fun going and head out in the mud to go down the slide a few times.

Parenting win!

We went straight from school, so I brought a snack since he’s saying he’s hungry when he gets in the car.

Ever since I heard that Happy Tot would be launching a new Whole Milk Yogurt Pouch I’d been waiting to get my hands on them. Fox absolutely adores what we’ve lovingly coined “squishies” — so much so that the CVS on Hollywood Blvd. actually told my husband that they kept ordering them for us since we cleaned them out every time.

Yep, that much!

We put so much emphasis nowadays on having easy, on-the-go options for busy moms, kids, and families, and even though it’s nice to make food from scratch, it’s not that simple for the average family that’s toting kids to sports, heading into meetings, or runnings errands.

Fox was on cloud 9 when we pulled into the park and let out a squeal when he saw the snack I packed for him.

Side note:

Fox struggles with having unhealthy teeth. We went to the dentist yesterday and he believes that his dental issues are solely caused by getting unlucky with the type of bacteria that he acquired, and not how often he brushes. He suggested healthier snacks like nuts, seeds, and yogurt that will help us see changes in his pearly whites.

Happy Tot Whole Milk Yogurt Pouches are made with whole milk yogurt and vitamin D, probiotics, and non-GMO USDA organic ingredients, while skipping added sweeteners.

His favorite flavors are Apple & Blackberry and Banana, Mango & Spinach which is great because we can switch these up and he doesn’t even realize he’s eating healthy (now that he’s a picky 3-year-old!).

If you’d like to find them so your own kids can try them out, here’s an Ibotta offer $1 cash back when you purchase at your local Walmart. Be sure to look for them in the refrigerated yogurt case!
