The One Change I Made for Better Skin

August 10, 2016

This post was sponsored by WaterWipes as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central. I received complimentary products to facilitate my review.

I never used to put a great deal of weight into how products I used affected my body or health. That was until I had an eye-opening experience about six years back.

As soon as I hit college my acne got out of control. I was constantly embarrassed by the painful blemishes on my face and there were so many that I couldn’t actually count them. I would even plan dinner dates with my girlfriends around the lighting at the restaurant to make sure I didn’t feel any more uncomfortable than I needed to.

I was at the end of my rope trying to find a solution. I had gadgets and gizmos, vitamins, topical creams, prescription pills, cleansers, and went often for facials. My skin looked like it had been sunburnt and peeled from the harsh chemicals. This gave me an idea: what if chemicals were exacerbating the issue? I promptly switched to all natural face cleanser and, besides the random mini-breakout, my skin has been clear ever since.

This was life-changing to me and I told everyone I could about it that complained about skin problems.

When Fox was born I started making other changes here and there, especially on products that specifically touched his skin. He has been sensitive since birth, developing baby acne and having a severe reaction to erythromycin on his eyelids, so we’ve always had to take extra care.

I found these at Babies”R”Us when we were frantically checking packages for chemical free diapering materials. There are only two ingredients: 99.9% pure Irish water and 0.1% grapefruit seed extract.

Especially with a little boy, there is no time for pulling a wipe out of the container only to have tear into little pieces. It’s dangerous territory for walking out of the nursery needing a new shirt and a shower 😉 Good news is that the WaterWipes turned out to be very durable and did the job with ease.

I’ll be incorporating a few other changes into our daily lives moving forward to create a safer space for Fox, including some organic clothing I came across recently. Can’t wait to share with you our findings!

In the meantime, I’m excited to bring you a giveaway so you can enter to win one of (5) $100 gift cards to Babies”R”Us! Try your hand at winning below — the contest is open until August 18th.
