5 Goals for 2017

January 11, 2017

It’s taken me a little longer than usual to plan out my goals for the year. It always seems like the same old things are a priority: eating better, exercise, be better with money, get organized, etc.

Explore LA – After living in Hollywood for nearly a year, I was shocked when I realized I barely scoped out the area! Besides a coffee shop and getting takeout from a couple restaurants, we put little to no effort in getting to know our new neighborhood. I’m making it my mission to find beauty in all the art Los Angeles has to offer, eat all the food (hard job, I know), and learn all the history that I can get my hands on.

Take a road trip – The unexpected journey we took from Houston to Los Angeles late last year surprisingly shot near the top of our all-time favorite trips! We have a quirky little dude on our hands that loves a good road trip, so I’d love to take advantage of that. Possibly up the coast, maybe to the mountains of Utah — if you’ve done a nice long road trip from LA, let me know!

More playdates for Fox – Fox doesn’t have a lot of experience around other kids. He’s a bit wild for most programs we’ve tried to get him into. I’ve been using an app called CityMoms to schedule playdates and events for Fox to broaden his horizons and meet some new little friends. They have free events frequently that help me scope out playrooms, art studios, museums, sports arena, and more before committing to them. We’re also thinking about immersing him in day care 2-3 days a week to see if that helps his mind and social skills grow.

Sitting and not doing – True story, I’ve left Fox’s side 4 times since he was born almost 2 years ago. Sometimes I feel like I never shut off! I’m going to make an effort to invite my girls out to coffee more, take myself to the movies (you better believe I’m springing for the theater with recliners and wine), and maybe even read a book. It’s healthy to relax and be good to yourself.

Make my health a priority – I’m embarrassed to admit that I am horrible at regular appointments, whether it be the doctor, dentist, chiropractor, etc. There’s always seems to be something more important that needs to be dealt with. Now that I’m getting older, it’s important to maintenance my body and mind, and I’m on a quest to get everything in check.

If you’re in the LA area, I’m hosting a welcome playdate in North Hollywood for your kiddos ages 2-10. There will be mixed media art to make and snacks to be eaten! More info here. Hope to see you there!

Loving all your goals! I wish I lived closer so that my boys could play with Fox. I know they would all have a blast. I also wish I could sit and drink coffee with you. Winding down with the girls is something I rarely do as well. Hope you have a wonderful year my friend!

There consistently appears to be a prevailing matter of greater significance that necessitates attention.
