Making the Right Choice - The February Fox
One of the most adorable things about Fox right now is his obsession with making choices. Sometimes I even hear him in his room saying, “This one? No. This one? No. This one? Yes!” while he’s putting himself in control of which hat Mr. Potato Head wears or which animal will ride in the tractor. He’s mastered a list of ways to say yes and no and often holds one finger to his cheek to say “hmmmm” before making his final decision. I’ve learned that giving him choices to make throughout the day helps create a dialogue that inevitably sprouts new words and solidifies our already strong bond. It’s also caused a *major* (seriously, I cannot stress how vast the difference is) change in his general demeanor throughout each day. You know my crazy little mile-a-minute guy that I was legitimately afraid to leave the house alone with? He’s now completely reasonable and mild-tempered. When he doesn’t want to let go of a toy, I tell him to wave goodbye to it. He says bye and we’re off, no issues.
