A couple of years ago I started seeing beauty vloggers post videos of themselves brushing their teeth with charcoal. When they rinsed their mouths after brushing, they claimed that their teeth were starting to look brighter.
This seemed like a total game changer for me, a busy mom who pretty much always has a coffee by her side. My teeth were looking less than pearly and I knew I wanted to try this trendy new teeth whitening solution.
After a run-in with an expensive and messy charcoal powder (I’m still finding this stuff on my toiletries two years and one cross-country move later), I discovered Colgate put out a new product: New Colgate Essentials Toothpaste with Charcoal!
Hooray for a mess-free product — since we all know that moms have enough to clean-up as is.
I asked Tyler to pick me up a tube when he went by Walmart for a few household items. It retails for less than $5 in the toothpaste aisle, which is so much better than most of the charcoal-based teeth whiteners sold in high-end beauty shops. Since we’re already big fans of Colgate in our house, I was confident I’d be happy with the quality in addition to the price.
The first thing I noticed when I began to brush is how overwhelmingly fresh the product made my mouth feel. I was skeptical at first that it would taste bitter or chalky, but neither of those qualities were present — just the usual minty tingles.
The micropolishers in this toothpaste helped to remove stains as I brushed, removing stains and impurities.
My favorite part about this product is how quick and easy it is to use. While I’d love to have all the time in the world to pamper myself, I usually have to pencil time in these days to get a minute to myself. Brushing my teeth is already a part of my daily routine, so I’m not having to carve out additional time to whiten my teeth.
Head to Walmart and check out the New Colgate Essentials Toothpaste with Charcoal!
Have you hopped on the charcoal train yet? What did you think?
