I don’t know about your family’s schedule, but Saturdays are just as chaotic as the work week. It isn’t until we hit Sunday that I truly feel like I can hit pause and fall off the radar for awhile.
For most of our relationship we’ve either worked at the same place or both kept offices inside the home, so we’ve been in brand new territory for almost a year now being separated throughout each day. It gives us plenty to discuss come the weekend!
It’s not always easy to find time to date your spouse when you have a toddler in the house. We know we don’t get out as much as we should, but most of the time we kind of like it that way. There’s something so nice about not having to get ready for the world and drive out into the madness of people when you can curl up on the couch instead.
Although we’re keen on a good binge-watch, we do allocate time each Sunday to relax downstairs in our living room (which we purposely avoided placing a TV) to reflect both on the week behind us and the days to come.
Here three of our favorite ways to unwind together.
Turn on the Tunes
Tyler made beautiful speaker suitcases for our wedding back in 2012. We’ve gotten a lot of use out of them, especially since we’ve hooked one up to our downstairs record player. I still remember the day I visited him at one of his Warped Tour dates during our dating days and this long-haired rockstar told me his favorite thing to listen to was classical music. He wasn’t kidding and he frequently puts it on in the background. In fact, I just had a big old laugh while I was typing out this sentence as I heard him tell our smart home device to play his classical music playlist as he started up dinner.
Grab a Snack
If you haven’t noticed yet, a running theme over here in my corner of the internet is always having some sort of food around at any given time. We definitely love our snacks! A favorite of ours is POP SECRET® Movie Theater Butter, since we both lean into salty vs. sweet. It’s fast, no mess, and delicious, which is a trio that can’t be beat! We get ours delivered regularly on Amazon.
Get Competitive
We’re constantly on the hunt for 2-player board games, since a little competition keeps us on our toes. Some of our favorites? Escape Room, Monopoly, and Ticket to Ride. Winner gets a back rub!

I agree me and my husband do love a good binge watch session, but we too also really enjoy 2 player games!! We always have fun getting competitive and using our strategies.
We also love jigsaw puzzles!

First, agree on an activity that you both enjoy, such as watching a movie, playing a game, or having dinner together.
