Last year was my first ever Mom’s Day. Fox was on month three of colic so intense that could take the paint off the walls and, to be honest, all I wanted was a little bit of peace.
Tyler asked if he could surprise me and after thinking about it for a moment I said yes. My husband is an exceptionally level-headed person, how bad could this go?
A few days later I was whisked away to a swanky boutique hotel for the night, followed by brunch at a silent, sterile restaurant.
Don’t get me wrong, I beyond appreciated the thought behind the hotel stay and fancy brunch, but I swear I kept one eye open the whole night waiting for a call from the front desk with a sugarcoated version of, “Ma’am, shut your offspring up – people are trying to sleep!” This also became the trip that inspired the first sting of a stranger’s side-eye from an apparent parenting fowl. I think we both learned a lot that weekend – haha 😉
This year Mama is staying home with her favorite men in her pjs to brunch hard and drink lots of wine, because I birthed a human and I deserve it.
Tyler and Fox put together a tray of crepes, orange juice, and JaM Cellars Butter Chardonnay, and delivered it with the most gorgeous yellow flowers. This treatment is totally my speed! I’m not sharing the wine either, it’s a lot like me: bold, easy-to-love, and Californian.
Also, you guys need to try this wine. I’ve been trying to find a buttery white for years and I hadn’t been able to lock down one until a couple months ago. The JaM portion of JaM Cellars stands for John and Michele, second-generation vintners who own and run their business out of Napa Valley. If you’re in the area, enter to win a 3-day general admission pass to BottleRock Napa Valley where JaM Cellars has their own stage with acts like Michael Franti, Capital Cities, The Mowglis, Finish Ticket, and more right here. You can also find bottles of Butter Chardonnay in your local grocery store by checking out the Wine Finder.
So tell me, what are your plans this Mother’s Day? I’d love to hear all about them!
