Every month, Fox’s school sends home a little calendar of special events that I wind up having a little too much fun with.
This month, it’s Johnny Appleseed Day!
Yep, it’s today, and I came prepared with a recipe to share with you to celebrate.
The first thing I did was head to Milk & Eggs to get all of my fresh ingredients. Not only does it arrive on my doorstep, but the prices are amazing — $1.25 for a pound of Gala apples, what what!
Here are some of the items I used in my hand pies.
Apples // Lemon // Sour Cream // Butter // Eggs
Once I had everything I needed, I got to baking. My sweet momma is in town, so she helped me since I’m a pretty shoddy baker to be honest 😉

This is such a cute idea! I love how you’re making learning fun with themed treats. Those hand pies look absolutely delicious, and what a great way to celebrate Johnny Appleseed Day. Getting fresh ingredients delivered is a game changer, isn’t it? My kids would probably love these… they’re currently obsessed with racing games like Drift Hunters, but maybe I can lure them away from the screen with some tasty apple pies.
