You already know I’m not a morning person, but you also may have figured out that I manage to get my checklist accomplished each day without fail.
I’ve found that diving straight into work each day does not start me off on the right foot. Instead, I give myself some time in the morning to remove all distractions by doing whatever it is that makes me happy.
Here’s my current morning routine!
Girl, Wash Your Face
I work from home and showers make me sleepy, so I prefer to bathe at night. That said, washing my face is my favorite way to feel refreshed and face the day. I also take it as an opportunity to do something nice for myself like put on a face mask, pop on some under-eye gellies, or my current favorite: Bioré Witch Hazel Pore Strips!
A few years ago I noticed little blackheads covering my nose and not only did they look bad, but they frequently turned into larger breakouts. I’ve always used Bioré strips, but it wasn’t until recently that I found the witch hazel option.
Do you know what witch hazel is? Because studies show that the search for witch hazel is up +305%!
If you don’t know, it’s an astringent that tightens pores, removes harmful oils, and helps prevent breakouts. For those reasons, I also use Bioré Witch Hazel Toner. Witch hazel toner is one of my mom’s beauty staples and, since she has great skin, one I’ve adopted myself.

Eat Something Healthy
Nothing makes my day drag more than eating something greasy in the morning. I subscribe to a smoothie service that makes it super simple to dump all the ingredients into my blender, press a button, and pour out. I’ve noticed an increase in energy and the flavor combos are yummy to boot!
Now Zone Out, You Deserve It!
When I wake up, I’m thinking of all the things I have on my plate and also all the things I’d rather be doing. A mindless iPhone game sesh? Yes please. Giving myself 30-60 minutes to do anything that makes me happy really helps me to shake out the lazies and feel good about diving into emails and conference calls.
As soon as I’m done, I pour myself a coffee and hit the ground running. It’s done wonders for my productivity and I’ve even seen an uptick in the success of my business. It’s safe to say that giving myself a little grace has shown to be quite lucrative!
Is there something unique you do in the morning that helps get you energized throughout the day?
