I’m pretty sure I met my mom soulmate last week.
The cutest little lady walked into a room full of women dressed to the nines — hair done, makeup done, heels sky high. Another person in the room gave her a wide-eyed “well aren’t you fancy” kind of eyebrow raise and the woman on the receiving end shrugged and said, “I have a 6-month-old, I never get out, and it feels really good to shower.”
Yaaaaassss girl!
Moms that run in my circle of friends make comments here and there about picking their kids up from school with one of two looks: rolled out of bed or going to the Oscars.
I completely hear that loud and clear.
Most days you’ll find me in yoga pants and a tank, hair piled on my head and no makeup on. I’m home more often than not.
Some women slap on some lipstick or maybe mascara to liven up their appearance, but I’m more a fan of spaying some rosewater mist on my face to wake me up and adding some waves to my mane. It helps me feel more put together even when I’m not feeling like the caffeine kicked in.
First up, let me tell you a little about my hair. It’s exceptionally thin and oily (getting worse after having Fox), never used to like to hold a curl, and likes to lie flat on my head. My hair is the type that teasing looks awful on because you can see every little spot where I’ve messed with my tresses, so I utilize product instead.
As for hot tools, I use a 25mm curling wand which is possibly one of the only products I’ve ever used that has helped me to create a curl that doesn’t fall out in a few hours. I curl away from my face on both sides from about halfway down my head to the tips of my hair, pulling on each curl lightly when taken off the iron. This helps to give a more natural look instead of tight curls.
Another trick I use is setting my look with TRESemmé Compressed Micro Mist Hairspray Texture. While products labeled “volumizing” tend to fall flat on me or leave me with an oil slick atop my head, TEXTURE has been my key word to look for when shopping. Using a micro mist has ensured that my thin hair doesn’t get drowned in product, meaning no crispy curls! What it does do: deeper coverage, hair that moves with me aka no helmet head (!), and even a reduction in C02 due to smaller can size.
I first found the new TRESemmé Compressed Micro Mist products — there’s also Extend, Boost, and Smooth options — in the aisle at my local Walmart and gave it a shot since I already love their inexpensive dry shampoo.
