Visiting the New DICK’S House of Sport in Rochester

If you haven’t heard by now, DICK’S Sporting Goods has opened the very first DICK’S House of Sport in Victor, NY at the Eastview Mall.

First of all: what is DICK’S House of Sport?

DICK’S House of Sport is an experimental store that focuses on four main areas: Product, Service, Community, and Experiences Inside and Outside the Store for Athletes.

Grand Opening festivities begin on Friday, April 9th, but I was lucky enough to be invited on a VIP Shopping Experience of this incredible concept store earlier this week!

When I first entered, I noticed the enormous Jumbotron overhead and learned that both local and national games will be aired periodically.

Do you notice anything about the mannequins?

They’re depicted in motion! 

Since DICK’S House of Sport is the place to be for everything active, it only makes sense that you’ll get to see clothing in more than a standstill pose.

Next up was the Footwear Deck, which can hold tens of thousands of shoes. In fact, it’s the largest shoe selection of any of the DICK’S Sporting Goods locations.

You’ll find selections from brands like Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, Birkenstock, Vans, and Dr. Marten.

When you enter the fitting rooms, you’ll notice there’s an area with a treadmill for Gait Analysis. You can also try on your gear and hop on the treadmill to see how it performs before committing to buy.

As you meander around this expansive location, you might notice something special: scent stations!

DICK’S House of Sport has multiple locations throughout the store where they provide a full sensory experience. You will notice the smell of bubblegum by the Baseball area and eucalyptus mint near Health and Wellness.

Speaking of baseball, there is a huge selection of gloves and bats as well as a Hittrax where you can test your swing. You can even pick your stadium and what kind of celebration you’d like when you knock it out of the park!

Fireworks or smoke show?

And there’s little Rochester touches throughout the store. Check out the Fairport Little League as well as a really great trail to experience by bike.

If soccer is your sport, you’re in luck. The House of Cleats is a 360 degree experience that offers over 350 varieties of cleats.

You can even try them out on real turf, because DICK’S House of Sport has a 17,000 square foot turf field used for events and programming. They have outdoor games set up to play at your leisure, you can take a yoga class or a soccer clinic. When the temperatures dip, the turf will transform into an ice rink!

Adding to the interactive experiences, there are three golf hitting bays outfitted with TrackMan simulators, as well as a putting green and an on-staff PGA Golf Professional.

Another cool feature is the indoor rock climbing wall. For $8 you can scale the 32″ wall that has varying levels of difficulty. Simply make reservations both online or in-store where you can also receive training from a professional rock climbing lead.

Beyond the rock wall, you’ll find the Co Lab which is done in a pop-up style — currently featuring Vans.

The Health and Wellness Bar features local juicery Just Juice products, a local wellness expert (schedule a time for a consulation!), protein powders, beauty products, and more.

Pro parent tip: I brought my kids back later in the day and discovered milk and chocolate milk at this spot!

If all of the above wasn’t enough to convince you, DICK’S House of Sport also offers baseball glove steaming and relacing, bat regripping, racquet and lacrosse stick stringing. You can also have your bike repaired, t-shirt pressed, and more. Most services offer a one-day turnaround time!

Want to see what I picked up on my first trip?

These adidas Originals Women’s Swift Run X Shoes were immediately on my radar upon first glance. I’m not always great at incorporating patterns into my wardrobe, but these are neutral and oh so cute! I’m pairing them with this Nike hoodie, Under Armour socks, and sweatpants from private label brand, DSG. 1% of every DSG purchase goes towards the DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation to help save youth sports.

Another private label brand, CALIA by Carrie Underwood creates some of the best leggings I’ve ever tried on! The ones I’m wearing above have a crossover hem and I also picked these cuties up. I’ve been eyeballing the latest swimwear they’ve been rolling out too!

My hoodie is a collaboration between Under Armour and The Rock. I love how pulling the bottom tight creates a ruffled look!

Comfort is key, so I snagged another pair of DSG sweatpants and added some new Nikes, and a Carhartt beanie.

A trip to DICK’S wouldn’t be complete without snagging a piece of workout equipment. This medicine ball will help elevate my workouts!
