Although my “baby” has been in school for awhile now, he officially started his very first day of Pre-K this past Tuesday.
It feels like he’s grown so much this week alone, reciting full songs and books from memory, doing math (what?!), and explaining concepts to us that we have no idea he was paying attention to.
Three has been such a fun age so far, especially with a constant uptick in speech and banter.
In addition to his usual after-school hug and a kiss, he’s added recaps of his day including which friends he played with, what he learned, what his teachers told him, and he also has a habit of ratting himself out if he had a “moment.”
Because of this newfound chattiness, we’ve decided to embrace it and learn as much as we can about Fox and what his days look like while he’s expanding his mind in class.
Each afternoon we set aside a wedge of time to head to a quiet room of the house sans TV and talk about our days, read books, play games, have a dance party, or whatever else we think up!
Our favorite activity right now comes in the form of story cards that I found online. It’s a deck of card with different images on each one that I show to Fox to prompt him to create a storyline!
The last one involved a bird dropping pineapples into a volcano!
Speaking of pineapples, it’s nice to have something cold to drink and cut up fruit while we’re catching up.
I bought a few cases of Sparkling ICE from Amazon (my favorite is Black Cherry, Tyler is partial to Orange Mango, and Fox is into Coconut Pineapple). They’re a great soda substitute with zero sugar and zero calories, containing naturally sourced colors and flavors.
