3 Ways to Jumpstart Your Family’s Morning

February 2, 2019

This post is sponsored by General Mills. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I am not a morning person.

I never have been and I probably never will be. I’m sleepy and sometimes grumpy because, without fail, my best ideas and creative bursts come late at night, keeping me up late and without rest.

Not being a morning person simply isn’t an option with a toddler in the house, so I’ve had to find workarounds through trial and error of what works best for me and my family to get us moving in the a.m.

Have Clothes Picked Out

I’ll admit that this one is more about the child in the house than me or my husband. There is nothing more frustrating than adding on an extra 10 minutes in the morning trying to get him out the door while looking for a matching pair of socks between his dresser, the laundry pile, and the dryer. Having a simple outfit picked out and ready to go also means I can regularly tell him to go get himself dressed, which has been making him so proud lately.

Carefully Choose Your Wakeup Call

Does anyone else hear phone alarms that they’ve used in the past go off in the wild and have a visceral reaction? Consider investing in a light that wakes you up gradually or download a gentle wake-up app to avoid a jolt in the morning and start your day off smoothly.

Eat a Fun Breakfast

When we went to Walmart recently, we discovered Cinnamon Toast Crunch Churros. My husband and I didn’t even need to talk about it, it just went straight in the cart. Since we moved from the West Coast, churros are few and far between here and we couldn’t wait to give it a spin. Once Fox got his hands on a bowl, he started referring to it as his “special cereal” and asked for it before and after school and then again later as an after dinner treat.

FYI: General Mills dreamed up more than just this yummy churro-flavored breakfast. They also created Chocolate Toast Crunch and Fruity Lucky Charms that can be found at your local Walmart or on Walmart.com.

Do you have any tips or tricks to get going in the morning?
