As soon as February rolls around, we gear up for the Big Game! I know you’re probably thinking, “You’re from Buffalo, what do you have to celebrate?” and alas, you’re right. But it’s still fun to make ALL the food and bring friends and family together for a big P-A-R-T-Y!
This football celebration holds a special place in my heart. Fox was due on F-Day (Football Day, keep up!) in 2015, but he was late. However, his first birthday fell right smack on game day the next year and the camping party I had fully planned and purchased decorations for without checking the calendar had to be turned into a football event.
We came prepared this year and opted for a “refined game room” type football decor since we do not have a (red, white, and blue) horse in this race this season.
Let’s be real: it’s the food that people care about.
The most important thing when throwing a football party is to encourage people to move around with their food. Portable foods like pizza and wings are popular this time of year, but I like adding in appetizers to ensure there’s enough variety.
New on the table this year is McCain Potato Dip’n Wedges, a one-of-a-kind v-cut potato wedge that is ideal for using in dips and sauces. We loaded scattered bowls of this fun new product across our table and had toppings spread out by the TV so party guests could customize their own apps or eat them plain like my kiddos like them.
Both Fox and Charlie got in on the foodie action!
This one has salsa, black beans, and jalapeño-stuffed olives with hot sauce on the side. Yum!
I love how easy this product is to share.
We’ve made them for family movie nights and play dates — they’re a fun food addition to any plate with the convenience of being a frozen product.
I’m already dreaming up new flavor combinations like Reuben-style for St. Patrick’s Day and shredded Buffalo chicken with celery bits and blue cheese!
