Even though we’ve had a lot of major changes around here lately (new city, new baby) everything else has pretty much stayed the same.
I stay home with Charlie all day and have quickly fallen into a mundane routine. I don’t know about you, but when I get in a constant loop my drive plummets. I need change as I get older, but it’s not as simple and snapping my fingers to find myself with a brand new schedule.
Lately I’ve been exploring some options to mix things up and I’m finding that even the smallest tweaks make the world of difference!
Here are a few I’ve tried that are my current favorites.
Wake Up Earlier
Waking up a few hours ahead of schedule can open up a window of opportunity for so many different things like getting a full breakfast in, making a list of daily goals, or energizing with a morning workout. Having my day lined up for me and getting my coffee hot is so motivating, especially without interruption.
Change Your Scenery
Grab a friend and try the newest cafe in your area, whether you’re just catching up or having a side-by-side work session. It’s easy to get inspired by coffee, cool decor, and interesting people!
Try Out a New Skill
I’m pretty awful at baking but I’ve been forcing myself to try over the years in order to get better. I tried my hand at this “Kiwi Lime Pie” that only took a few minutes of prep and was so delicious!
Speaking of new, I opted for the Zespri SunGold Kiwifruit instead of the usual green variety. Yellow kiwi is a new thing to most people in North America, but elsewhere it’s fairly well known. It’s the 100% natural variation of the green kiwifruit, containing lots of nutrients with every serving. You can find them in the exotic fruit section (I found mine at Sam’s Club). They’re tropically sweet, more-so than green, and don’t have fuzzy skin.
Fox couldn’t wait for the pie to bake or cool in the fridge, so I cut a kiwi in half and gave him a spoon — he loved it! So easy.
